Gondolas

Gondolas are undoubtedly the stars on the Grand Canal, world’s most renowned ship, a symbol of Venice. The words “Gondola” and “Gondolier” come from the Venetian dialect, used for more than a thousand years ago. It is known that at the 15th century, there were more than 15,000 Gondolas in Venice.

With 15,000 gondolas, Venice must have looked just like your photo everywhere you could go. According to Wikipedia, "It is estimated that there were eight to ten thousand gondolas during the 17th and 18th century. There are just over four hundred in active service today, virtually all of them used for hire by tourists."

Bacino Orseolo is certainly one of the busiest places in Venice away from trains, basilicas and markets. Good of you to crop "Hard Rock" out of the picture!

Oh yes, I recognize Bacino Orseolo! Good call Randy, very smart that he did not show "Hard Rock" somehow that would take away from the spirit of the photo!!
