Gothic tracery

The Ca' d'Oro is certainly one of the most beautiful Venetian palaces. It is definitely the most famous. It was built during the 15th century, beside the Grand Canal, of which it is one of the jewels. Its loggias are fabulous flamboyant gothic tracery.

You've captured it wonderfully, Pierre. Amazing what artisans could do with stone hundreds of years ago. Now, even with all the tools at our disposal, who builds with such gorgeous detail?

Agreed, it's so thrilling, even after all those centuries. To stand looking out over the Grand Canal from here is one of the best reasons to visit Ca'd'Oro, quite apart from the excellent museum, and the fantastic flooring at ground level!Despite what looked like considerable flood damage in 2010 it's still an impressive floor.

It's exquisite. They just don't make things like this anymore. Why is that? Everything has to be done so quickly? Perhaps we should start a Slow Architecture movement. ;)

And the light you've captured it with is gorgeous, Pierre. Merci.

The light cathing the pillars is truly delightful...and such graceful design.

I remember aiming my camera that way on my visits to Venice.
