Such an inviting little courtyard! If you're coming from San Marco, just turn right after Venetium Studium on Calle Larga XXII Marzo and go down the little alley. Don't remember the name, but I believe I do know the name of the window shopper!
Right Bert! I love brownies, and I think I can even cook good ones... But on my favourite english dictionnary online, I found that : lutin :(petit démon espiègle) brownie I like that! You can see this here : http://www.wordreference.com/fren/lutin
Pierre and Jeff, you are right. A brownie is a little mischievous but essentially good natured elf, especially noted for doing good deeds, rarely noticed. The good deeds bit is, I believe, why the name "brownie" was selected for the younger branch of the girl guides in england. The cake/biscuit brownie is American in origin - but Bert isn't American, so I'd expect him to go for the Baden Powell alternative!

Amazing - I had my photo of this shop on my desktop yesterday - taken in Oct 2010 - mine was quite dark, I think late in the afternoon. - thank you
enchanting
Enchanting, indeed. (And taken on the same day as the November 17 photo?)

Right Jeff! What a good eye you have ;)
Yes, I think you are right too Alexa. She is the little incognito pixie (brownie?) in some of my pics...
A brownie is a sort of cake, almost always chocolate flavour.:-)
Alternatively, a junior branch of the Girl Guides, or Girl Scouts.

I always assumed the Girl Scouts' use of "brownie" derived from the little elf meaning.
I love the "mischievous" element in your online definition. Even the word is full of mischief (I misspell it every time.)
