Silent Church

I like the silent church before the service begins, better than any preaching.

My guess as well—because it seems SO big (and that checkered tile floor looks familiar). You captured the peaceful atmosphere beautifully, Pierre.

On the left is the monument to the Valiers by Tirali. This view is very similar to one in Don't Look Now, where Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie are seen leaving the church.

Nice framing in the center of the photo of Giovanni Bellini's "Polittico di San Vincenzo Ferrer"!

There are so many fantastic churches to see in Venice that we think everyone "merges" them in one's mind after overdosing on visiting them. The "Chorus" pass for tourists tends to encourage us in this indulgence. It's frustrating when you "know" it quite well, but for a little time can't name the Church! Super picture for catching the mood of the place.

I agree with Emerson. A church is more spiritual to me without the rituals and incense. A few years ago I visited La Madeleine in Paris. I found a choir of white Americans from Colorado singing Southern (once called Negro) spirituals in the famous French church. Very odd, but a delightful surprise.
