Campo Santa Maria Formosa

You will cross this large campo, one of the largest in Venice, on your way from the Rialto to the Campo San Zanipolo. A nice place, with its little daily market and its colored houses. The church, Santa Maria Formosa, was built in 1492, to the design of architect Mauro Codussi.

Wonderful Campo. The church interior and the Querini-Stampali Foundation (behind it in the photo)are not to be missed. This is really the quick way from San Marco to Zanipolo, not from the Rialto, however.

Have to agree with Randy—have never gone to Rialto this way. But passing through this campo is the only way I can ever get to Zanipolo without getting hopelessly lost!

My favorite spot in Venice, so peaceful. Wish I was there now!
