Grass
“The moment one gives close attention to any thing, even a blade of grass it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.” Henry Miller
The ability to see and record the fascinating detail of such a clump of weeds is nowhere shown better than in Durer's study of a clump of weeds ... unless perhaps in Leonardo's notebooks ... or perhaps....and I can say that after spending half the day in the garden, pulling up weeds!
Hey, Randy, come on now! I'm a venicelover, not a botanist! I've found a couple of candidates, but I don't think that so much grass/whatever could grow on the bridges I've found, because of the amount of traffic they would have.

This one may take some time!
This is beautiful. I saw a beehive hanging out of a tree trunk this morning. Amazing to see the honeycomb hanging down like stalagtites in a cave.
Bert, if it's the same one I saw and photographed, I can tell you that it might be in the eastern part of Dorsoduro. :-)
...and the iron rail and the granite steps all in their own stages of growth and decline. excellent post.
Sir Bert The Navigator, don't give up, we're counting on you -- and what is the true name of the weeds?
What is more rare than . . . a blade of grass in Venice? Well done, Pierre (and I have faith in you, Bert).

Thanks to some help from Pierre (he practically told me the answer), it's Ponte Corte Vechio, Cannaregio.
