I send my heart up to thee, all my heart
In this my singing.
For the stars help me, and the sea bears part;
The very night is clinging
Closer to Venice' streets to leave one space
Above me, whence thy face
May light my joyous heart to thee its dwelling-place.
Robert Browning (Surrey 1812 - Venice 1889)

Ahh, the gondolas with lovely shimmering waters....
This is the best gondola pic I've seen in a while. I love Venice, but the photographic cliches...!
You're blog keeps me in touch - thank you. You may find my blog - an Australian take on 5 weeks in Venice last Christmas - interesting.

Just that time of evening when the sun is low - time for a cafe Coretto and some cichetti.
I discovered your blog yesterday and it's simply fantastic! I saw Venice 3 years ago and since then, I can't wait to see it again. Thank you so much for sharing this! I simply love Venice, such a fairy tale happening there!
Nicely done, Pierre! So beautiful, so graceful—and the light (on the lagoon?) is sublime. I'd much rather watch them than ride in one.
I agree with Alexa, in both respects :-)
I don't like boats, I've even got seasick waiting on the Vaporetto stop at San Zaccaria :-(
Rob
Alexa, and Rob C, we promise when we are in Venice (for the next week or so) we won't even stand too near a gondola! We agree - so much nicer to watch them, and yet another beautiful image from Pierre. Thanks again.
Andante,
You're there now? How's the weather? At least the tides have turned,so no Aqua Alta for yo!!
We arrive next Thursday for one whole week, am I looking forward to it...........................YES :-)
Rob
Rob C - no, we're not there yet, just anticipating eagerly - going to fly out monday morning to Venice, then ten days of wonderful sights!Leaving just before the New Year revellry. That is, if we can get there from England, as the forecasts are turning nasty - loads of snow and ice.
For those of you with withdrawal symptoms - I just uploaded a Venice Photo on my Blogissimi

Isn't if fun to see all the comments? It is really fun meeting blogger people. I met great people in Paris from Eric's Paris Daily Photo. Hey, anyone interested in meeting in Rome the week of April 20? (I can't make it to Venice.)
