I think you've mentioned this place before, Pierre. Or maybe it was Fausto. Anyway this is the Libreria Toletta, Dorsoduro 1213, Saca de la Toletta.

OK, the book I'm reading (The Siege of Venice) weighs 9 etti. So 9 euro for a book that would cost at least $55 (Australian). Now, that would be a bargain!

Weighty subjects will cost you, while light reading is easy.

Yeah, yeah, I know, too easy.

charming, as long as you don't buy too many reference books.

Reminds me of the reason I finally relented and bought a Kindle: I wanted to read a a 973-page book but didn't want to lug it around. Have known (and loved) this place for years! Good one, Pierre.

"Etto" is the abbreviation for ettogrammo - hectogramme (or hectogram) i.e. 100 grammes. Like most of the metric system, the hectogramme has not really caught on in the UK.

I passed this store every day during the week we spent in Venezia this October. I bought a book called "Guido's Gondola" for my new grandbaby.
