Ah! The wooden walkways are up. What a bizarre phenomenon that is. It's fabulous that Venice has lived through it for centuries.

Just as I remember it: the flooded piazza (and piazzetta), the people headed to the campanile on the passarelle, and Palladio's beautiful San Giorgio Maggiore beyond—so beautiful!
Travelling by taxi in Venice may be very convenient, but it is also affordable. The meters start at a fixed charge and there are extra charges for luggage, journeys to the airport and also trips taken between 22:00 to 07:00, at the weekends and also on public holidays.
This year might be my first experience with Aqua Alto..I've been 5 different times...but have yet to walk on the wooden walkways...25 days and counting 'till my arrival - HL, NYC
