Escape...
Being surrounded by water, this so built-up and urbanized city - which seems turned inwards - nevertheless keeps some openings to the lagoon, to the sea and to the wide world. Doors towards escape...
Well well... we need as many doors towards escape we can get. This city is suffocating. Anyway, complimenti, lovely blog and photos! I'm going to keep this bookmarked, so when I move in the fall I will have this to remind me of home...
Oh, just a question: why so few pictures of Venice by night? The view on the Zattere-Palanca traghetto, looking towards S. Giorgio is gorgeous at 2 AM...
As long as I'm escaping to Venice and not away from it. I think the people who come in on these boats and stop for the day are missing the best part of Venice—the simple experience of just BEING there.

Well, at least it's not a monster cruise liner gliding past. ;-)

I just got back from Venice. I could keep you supplied with photos for a long time!
