I love the Tower of Babel metaphor.
But, isn't it true that Venezia has always been an international city with people of many nations visiting? It's only in recent time that there have been maps in many languages, I suppose.
No sign of a Swedish copy. That would have spelled Venedig.
I, too, love the comparison.
Well put, Pierre. I'm sure it's hard to deal with so many visitors when you live there—I just hope all those tourists love and appreciate the city as much as this one (me, that is) does.
