Venetian Christmas

A nice Venice decoration, hand painted on Venetian glass... Isn't it cute? Seen in a shop named Pagnacco, in the Mercerie, right near San Zulian.

O Tannenbaum! O Tannenbaum! How DO you say Christmas Tree in Italian? It is a lovely decoration. Because I always seem to break the fragile decorations, my tree is decorated with very elaborate felt ornaments, made by my creative sister. Love decorated trees, don't you?

Those kids make a pretty good snowman, considering they have no fingers!

It's a very cute ornament—I'd be so afraid of breaking it. Kate -- think Christmas tree would be albero di Natale—but this looks like a feather tree to me. I'll bet Christmas trees cost many many euros in Venice. Pierre?

Alberi di Natale, you are right Alexa. And for O Tannenbaum, Kate, you'll find an italian translation below, in my 12 December post. About de price, not so much indeed, I've not observed a real difference compared to the price on the "terraferma". Buon Natale à tutti!

Thanks for the tip on the lyrics. I just sent it to my American friend living in Italy, telling him that I am learning Italian very quickly.

Will Father Christmas put me on the naughty list for saying I truly covet that ornament?
