A Secret Place

Another hidden courtyard, a "Corte Sconta" as Venice possesses so much. So near to the crowds of visitors, yet so well hidden that hardly anybody knows them even among the Venetian people. And as for any other "secret place" in Venice, I'm not supposed to tell you where it is... Let's the secret remain! Maybe you will have the pleasure to stumble upon and discover these antique architectural elements (11th to 17th centuries) arranged on this strong buttress, in this cobblestone paved entrance loved by author Hugo Pratt and his adventurer character Corto Maltese.

Really, really pretty. You were there at the perfect time for the light and colors.
That would be a great place to find!
It's just wonderful! Hope I stumble across it one day. Thank you.
What a wonder! A courtyard like a precious jewel, so magnificent and intimate at the same time...
Fantastic! I love it! ... and I am a bit jealous.
Would you at least give us another hint, like which sestiere? Please.
I know where it is! James Morris refers to it in 'Venice', page 234. It is not open to the public, so you have been very naughty, Pierre!
What a little miracle of a setting. It feels like a timeless magic resides there.
I love it! And I'm so jealous you live in Venice!!
I hope I to stumble across this corte sconta one day.
Ciao and thanks for taking me there with your photo

Fabulous. This blog is doing a wonderful job of picturing hidden Venice, and the beauty of Venice, for prosperity.
Happy New Year to you!
Amazing. On the left side it's more like an embroidered collage than a building!
It DOES look magical! I don't think my city has many "secret places," but perhaps I should begin looking!
Fabulous! Wow.
