Pierre, this is magnificent! Is there any chance you'd allow me to do an illustration based on your photo? {Sorry to be so public with the request but you don't show your email address. :) Please feel free to reply to me by email via my profile.}

This is so lovely! There is no peace and quiet quite like the Venetian version. I love Dorsoduro, but last time I was in Venice we rented an apartment facing the Frari church and fell in love with San Polo. Thanks for taking me back today. (And I hope you let Shell work her particular magic with this wonderful image.)

I love it: a sign stating where you are in Venice. For a visitor, this would be small help because...where was I when I crossed the bridge and saw this sign? And how do I get...somewhere else? I love it.

Of course, I know very little of the Italian language, but it interests me that the grammar on the sign differs from your photo title. (sestiere/sestier, di/de)

Hi to all of you, and thank you for your presence and nice messages on Venice Daily Photo.
To Shell... I sent you a mail.
To Jeff : Well observed. Sestier, contracted form of sestiere, must be the "Venetian dialetto" way of writing it. About the "de" you're right too. In fact "di" is much more used in this way in nowdays italian.
