Ca d'Oro
One more picture of the most famous palace on the Grand Canal, the Ca d'Oro (Gilded House). It was built in the 15e century, along of the Grand Canal, of which it is one of the jewels. Its loggias are fabulous flamboyant Gothic laces.
I love this in b&w—really shows up the gothic details! jennyfreckles -- the Ca d'Oro houses the (open to the public) Franchetti Gallery—after Giorgio Franchetti, its last owner, who willed it to the city.

Gorgeous. For this one I'd love to see a color version, too.
It's surprisingly effective in mono - I think it shows up the tracery of the stonework really well. Is this someone's house now - or a museum?
Mon palais de coeur!

Really a classic image of Venice. As you leave the train station on a vaporetto, you pass this palazzo and gasp, then sigh: "I'm in Venice."
There is nothing like this in Venice, California!
You inspired me to find my photo of Ca d'Oro.
The one to the left of it's not bad, either!
I could live there! Looks very good in b&w.
