Greetings from Venice... in Las Vegas

Right! The last picture posted was indeed a Las Vegas interpretation of Piazza San Marco...
And for today : the Grand Canal!
While in Las Vegas, you can imagine that I couldn't resist to go and discover this famous illusion of Venice offered by the Venetian casino... and to have a thought for my dear and faithful visitor Kate while seeing these nice american gondoliere singing "O Sole Mio" (a napolitan song by the way...)

Yes, the Venetian is quite amusing. I once notice a "gondolier" there (these gondolas have electric motors) singing a Hoagy Carmichael (American songwriter) song! I love Venice and Hoagy was from my town in Indiana -- a funny moment!

Been to the Grand Canal in Vegas and in Venice. Prefer Venice of course. But the Ballagio Hotel was a good time also.

Just from the thumbnail, I recognized the fake facades and all-too-blue water. I'd rather visit the real thing, your city.

Great shot, Pierre—but this looks so bizarre. And a motorized gondola? I'm sorry, but that's just wrong!
You must have found this pretty amusing (or if not, then horrifying, but I hope it made you laugh).

Las Vegas is strange indeed. No interest in ever going back. You?

I saw VegasVenice a few years ago. Quite pretty, actually. The grand salon leading to the hotel reception desk is nice. (I confess, I have to guess it was imitating the Doge's palace, because when I visited Venice this year, I did not go into the Doge's palace.) I had seen Paris several times, and VegasParis also is fascinating. I'm not a Vegas fan and, of course, would rather see Paris and Venice. It is wonderful, however, that our Pierre is visiting the Vegas models. Great job!

I haven't been to either Venice yet, but I will go to Venice, Italy next month. From what I have seen in the photos, Venice, Italy is much more beautiful!

I have never had any desire to go to las Vegas, but have been to Venice numerous times, and look forward to going again!

Do you think they have even managed fake aqua alta in Vegas? That would be somethign in the desert!

All the best from me at Sydney Daily Photo. I’m so busy with a new job I hardly have time to post, much less comment these days!
