Looks pretty crowded. If I were those folks, I think I'd sit down.

Lavenderlady,

That's a traghetto. Everyone stands on a traghetto. It's not as difficult as it looks! Standing facing the correct direction is the challenge, since they back out. Follow the local's lead.

Actually, lavenderlady, the trick is to get in first—like the lady in the dark shirt, who is sitting down. But Timothy is correct, too—it's not so difficult (and you'll feel like a real Venetian if you stand)>

Pierre, Finally!! I think you know how I love gondoliers, and I've been waiting for this one. A close-up of those handsome, sexy men would be nice! The whole scene with the magnificient buildings as background is wonderful!

PS. Thanks for the added
explanation on your Sunday post.

Hi to all of you and thank you four your visits and messages.
Perfectly right Timothy, and thank you for this explanation. And right too, Alexa, it's such a pleasure to cross the Grand Canal standing up in a gondola. I would never sit down :-)
My pleasure Kate ;-)

Too many people?

Well it is summer, and it is a Biennale year!

I feel a visit coming on, there may well be two more people there before long...
